Gated Community... of Christians?

Lessons learned from Veggie Tales while babysitting.... Good stuff. Okay let's get to the point. So I was babysitting for a family that goes to my church the other day and (as you may have guessed) we watched Veggie Tales. The "Silly Song with Larry" was (as you also probably gathered) The Gated Community.  This video got me thinking though. The people inside the gate were so wrapped up in themselves that they never saw the things outside their little bubble. Sound familiar? No? They stood in the position to help people that weren't in their circle and they overlooked it. Still don't see what I'm saying? They even shunned the poor man working in their community. They only were kind to their own people that were in their life and inside their gate. Get it now? It's us. So often it is me. Christians. We are given the amazing gift of being saved from sin. We are accepted into a family bigger than we know. We are bound for Heaven. BUT. So many times we, I, don't see the opportunities under my nose. I don't see the people day to day that I could help and maybe even bring into this family I have been adopted into. I forget and get so wrapped up in me that I don't see the needs around me. Sometimes we can even get caught in church. We can get stuck in our little "holy huddles" and forget to take it out to those who desperately need to hear it.

So that is my challenge. Not just for you but me also. Let us not be Holy Huddlers but world changers on a mission to see the people around us come to Christ.

-Bruises that come from who knows where... Completely normal.

-Bucket showers.

-I know it's over 100 degrees and there isn't a/c and you just did your drama and are sweating insanely... but... Hot tea? (Oh, and you can't say no.)

-You need to go to the bathroom? Not in a village? No squatty? Hello rice field and scarves!

-Bored? Drink water. Just sitting there? Drink water. Thirsty? You are de-hydrated!! CHUG MAN CHUG!

-The true reason that Indian shirts are so long is because the pants rip so easily.

-It rained so you have to walk around holding up your pants 'cause they are so huge

-Gain 100 pounds? Don't worry you will still be able to fit in your pants.

-Modest is hottest. Never leave without your scarf.

-You start calling plain bread toast even though you can't toast it 'cause it helps it go down easier

-You see cows everywhere. After a while you no longer see cows. You see hamburgers, steak, and Wendy's.

-You know how to properly eat with your hands

-Naan = yummmm

-Something happens to you. Don't worry. It's for the Gospel.

-Cold Mirinda. From the Lord.

-You go swimming. Fully clothed.

-Don't like curry? Don't worry just give it a few days and you will.

-You get creative trying to make your food taste American.

-Finding a Gatorade packet in the bottom of your suitcase. "PRAISE JESUS! I can make this last 3 bottles!!"

India. Where do you even start?!? God really moved. Truly and honestly He did. In absolutely mind-blowing ways! From the deaf hearing to the lame walking, from nationals being healed to our TEAM being healed, from money miracles to ice cream. God moved. The stats from the trip are knock-your-socks-off amazing so prepare yourself...

Total # of Ministry Sites: 44
Total # of people performed for or ministered to: 5,619
Total # of Adults Saved: 127
Total # of Children Saved: 852
Total # of Salvations: 979!

Yep, you read that right. GOD IS AMAZING! I have so many stories to tell and eventually they will end up on here but here is just one small story of our great God doing His thing.

(After presenting the gospel we went out in groups to pray)

"Vanakaam! How can we pray for you?"

"Umm... Hello sir. Is there anything that you have questions about or you want us to pray for?"

*Blankly stares into space and doesn't respond*

"He can not hear you. He is deaf and can not hear at all"

"Oooooh! Well let's pray for him to be healed!"

*Place hands on his ears and pray*

*Nothing happens*

"Ok.... Let's pray again!"

*Pray while our hands are on his ears*

"Alrighty then! Let's pray again!"

*We pray again and before we could finish.... the man starts looking around*

"Yesu ungalai nesikeraar"

"Yesu?"- Says the man who had never heard anything let alone Jesus loves you...

Following where He leads,

P.S.- Pictures to come later. My computer is being mean and won't load them...

Precept Boot Camp 2012

Today was the last day of the best camp of my life. I am super sad to have to leave all my friends. The new and the old. I learned so much about 1 Corinthians 1-6 and can't wait to finish the book. Paul really shows the Corinthians how Christ purchased them and how they should be acting differently because of the Holy Spirit that is inside of them. I had a great time worshipping the God who saved me because of His un-ending love and mercy. I pray that the friendships that I made will be ones that last an eternity. I also leave in exactly 15 days to go to Texas for a few days of training before on to India!!!! God has so much in store for this trip and I can NOT wait to see what is going to happen! Please pray that God will keep me focused as I prepare to leave and that God will start now to knit the team I will be on together and that there would be no divisions in it. Pray for everyone that we will see and speak with that they would be receptive to Christ and His cross. Below are a few pictures from the time I had at camp...

For consider you calling, brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong, and the base things of the world and the despised God has chosen, the things that are not, so that He may nullify the things that are, so that no man may boast before God. But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption, so that, just as it is written, "Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord."
~1 Corinthians 1:26-31

I love you and air conditioning and pizza and my bed and my phone...

I love you Jesus!! I love you SO much that I would do anything You wanted me to!

My child! I love you more than you could ever imagine and it makes me so happy to know that you would do anything for me because I did EVERYTHING for you!

Yes Jesus. I would do absolutely anything for you!

Good! Now then I want you to go to the ends of the earth for me.

Oh Jesus! I know that verse! I listened to it in church. But people say I don't have to do it. So Jesus I love you so much that I'll pray about it and for the other people that do.

You are not listening! It's JESUS! I want to you to go. There is nothing else left to say just go for Me.

Jesus I love you and I just have one itsy bitsy question. Where?

Well I want you to go to a place where people speak a different language. You will end up sleeping on the hard floor in 100 degree weather. But you will be sharing my love to people who don't know me! Your food will not be what you like. You said you love me right? So no worries because I love you too and gave it all for you. This is only for a while.

Oh! But.... but Jesus. I have plans for that time. I was going to go see friends and go to camp! I can't do that then!! I can't deal with another language, Jesus. I just can't. And I know I said I love but I love my bed too and airconditioning. The floor is un sanitary and I could get sick. And I absolutely REFUSE to eat something that I don't know what it is! That is gross. Jesus I love you but you see... I love my friends, bed, food, phone, and comfort too. And that just won't do...

My child! I love you and will protect you. I thought that you loved me... But I will never stop loving you!

*Walks away*

Please please come back to me! I will always love you and protect you! I will never leave or forsake you. Please just stay with me. I gave it all for you won't you just give a week for me?

So often at church we say, "If Jesus wants me to do something I would do it." But we never pray and sincerely ask what He wants us to do. So if He told you... would you GO for Him?

I. Am. That is all.

When God appears to Moses He calls Himself "I Am". He told Moses not to be afraid to tell the Pharoh to release the people but to simply tell them that "I Am" told him to do so. I never really understood that. I mean think about it. Did God just forget to finish His sentence? So I thought about all the diferent things that could possibly fill in that blank...
King of Kings
Above all
Always there
Never changing
With you
All knowing
The Good Shepherd
Your rescue
Jealous for you
So if I were to explain God to someone... It would be impossible! Because I don't even understand Him for He is so much greater than anything I could form into words. Anything I try to say is just insufficient all I know is that... He simply is. He is I am. All I can say is that He is and I can tell you bits and pieces of the miniscule segment of Him that I know about but truly all that I know is that He is. But that is all I need. Becasue since He is I can face tomorrow. Because He is all fear is gone. Becasue I know, I know He holds that future and life is worth the living just because HE IS.

Destination... INDIA!

As the title says it is official... I am going to India on a mission trip this summer!!! I will be there from the 7th of July to the 2nd of August. I will be going through Global Expeditions (the group I went to Panama with). We will be working with the kids there and also be doing skits in the streets! I am so so so so SO very excited! Please be praying for the team that I will be on that we would work together well and be lifelong friends. Also be praying for the people that we will see, talk to, and pray over.

While I am SUPER PUMPED about my own trip I know that many of my other friends will also be scattered around the world this summer and would love your prayers also. So please pray for the countries that they will be serving in this summer. (If I missed you just comment with where you are going.)
